When our day of departure finally came we had to drive for a really long time. Then we got to the airport. It is a really silly place. There are police officers who made us take our shoes off and we had to give them all of our suitcases and throw away our water bottles before getting on the plane. I was all set to go but apparently when you get to the airport you have to wait 2 more hours before leaving. The good part was that I got to look out the window at all of the airplanes.
There were all sorts of airplanes. When it was time to get on the plane I was really excited. We waited in a big line while Mom and Dad complained that they are always in the last group to board the plane. We walked through a hall and into a room with 2 rows of nice big seats with 1 aisle with all of the fancy people in 1st class. Then we got to the crowded part with the worn down seats and no free snacks or warm towels. I kept wondering when we were going to get on the airplane. This place was just like a big room with lots of seats - not exciting at all. Then to make it even more mundane my Mom & Dad installed my carseat. I sat patiently waiting to take off. All of the sudden the room started to move REALLY fast. I thought "Oh my gosh! We are on an airplane!" Then we went waaaaaaaay up high in the sky. Daddy pointed to the ground to show me my Papa Imboden's house. I didn't see it but I pretended that I did.
I was a very good boy and played with all of the cool stuff that my Grandma Imboden packed for me in my super cool handmade monkey sack. After a long ride we landed in California. We had to sit around on the runway for awhile so I decided to take a nap. Mom and Dad rudely woke me up only 10 minutes after I fell asleep. I was really peeved and cried all through the airport until I got to see my Aunt Claire and Uncle CB. They packed us into their car and took us out to eat. That was the start of my California vacation. Stay tuned for further details including Disneyland and more!
I am glad you went to see Claire and CB and Mickey. I am also very glad I got to get you at the airport and we ate corn at Bandans. Sorry our visit was short, but your folks looked tired and I knew you needed to get them home. Love Grampa Imboden
