I imagine that this is how a lot of kids end their nights at Disneyland - tired, content, satisfied that they will leave the park with a cool hat as a memento of fun times had. Well, not me! I, unfortunately, left the park without those Mickey ears :( This is one mistake that I am afraid I may never live down.I can remember it like it was yesterday. It all started on a sunny Sunday in California . . . Aunt Claire & Uncle CB decided to take us to Disneyland (Score a big one for them! #1 Aunt & Uncle!! Steve & Paul had better get to work!).
Here we are off to the first ride.
The first ride we rode was the rocket ship. It was fun because there was no line and we went way up into the sky. Daddy & Mommy rode separately because they are too big but Claire, CB & I were just right!
Mommy snuck me onto a roller coaster. I was barely tall enough. The lady made me get measured a second time even though my Mom fluffed up my hat and had me stand on my tippy toes. I met the minimum requirement at a perfect 35".
"Look Mom, no hands!" (I was actually just keeping my hat from flying off)
We went to the Disney parade which was pretty fantastic (if you like that type of thing). There were all sorts of dancers in matching shiny outfits and I got to see Mickey and all of his friends.
I got to play with Mama's camera and took some pictures
And Daddy even dressed up like one of the seven dwarfs!
I spent a lot of time with CB & Claire while Mama & Daddy rode rides. They took me to a special store where everyone gets their own personalized Mickey ears. They even had my name on them.

Lastly we watched the most elaborate fireworks that I have ever seen over the Disney castle with a real-life Tinker Bell flying around the sky - all while showing off those Mickey ears.
We had a fabulous day. Mom & Dad said it was time to go so we started walking towards the train. I was excited to go on the Monorail. We waited on a bridge for the train to come. And then it happened . . . that fateful moment . . . I took of my Mickey Ears and (it all happened so fast) threw them into the air. They floated so fast away from me and landed in the presumably icy waters of the Finding Nemo ride. I thought "Ooooooh crap!" Everyone froze, they saw it happen and they saw the look of dismay spread across my face. I knew at that moment that the ears were gone. I fear that I will never see them again. Sometimes people ask about them and it makes me sad. I really learned my lesson this time. If you look really closely . . . you won't see them, they are not there.
Hear the sorrow in my voice as I explain to Mickey what happened.
Sorry, about the ears, Buddy. Some day I am sure you will get new ones. Just remember all the fun with Auntie Clair and C.B.. Janet
