Best Big Brother

Many of you have probably already heard the news about my new baby brother. Well, its true - I have a new baby. He is very small (although everyone keeps saying he is big for some reason), his name is Elliot, and Mama and Daddy hold him a lot. Mama, Daddy and him had to live at the hospital for a few days while I had fun staying at my Papa and Grandma's house. Here I am laying eyes on him for the first time.
I have been a super good big brother. I even got prepared by taking a big brother class at the hospital. I learned how to hold him and help when he is crying or needs his diaper changed. I help get diapers and wipes for Mom and Dad when they are changing him. Here I am dressed up like a doctor at my class.Elliot cries a lot. Whenever he cries I offer helpful suggestions like, "I think he needs his diaper changed," or I tell my Mama "I think he wants to drink some breast milk. Mama open your shirt and feed him." And usually I am correct, he is hungry all of the time and usually gets quiet really quick when she feeds him. Mama says, "I think you are right Thomas, Elliot wanted to eat." But I have to correct her because he doesn't want to eat, he wants to drink!

Mama has been staying home to play with me every day now and we have had lots of visitors coming to see what a good big brother I am. I think they also want to see my baby because they usually hold him also. I have found some clever ways to use this to my advantage such as, "Mama, is Nate gonna come over and see my baby?" Automatic play date accomplished! Whenever no one else is here to play with me and my baby I have to make Mama feel bad about holding Elliot all the time by offering repeated requests for her to play with me, swing me, etc. Yesterday Mama was out back with Elliot and I and I was doing some cool tricks on the swing. I (being the good big brother that I am) told my Mom, "Mama, you go get the camera. I'll watch the baby." I am pretty responsible for a 3-year-old!

I have learned a few other things about my baby.
#1. He has an owie on his belly button called an umbilical cord that Mama said will go away soon, but until then I shouldn't touch it.
#2. According to Daddy, he is breakable, I have to be very careful when I hold him. #3. He likes to sleep in a little bed called a bassinet by Mama and Daddy's bed. Apparently this is also breakable because Mama got awfully mad when I jumped into it from her bed.
#4. He can't have macaroni and cheese, even though I was generous enough to offer to share some of my lunch with him.
#5. He is very lucky to have such a good big brother like me...and he isn't so bad to have as a baby brother either.

  2. The swing picture is definitely all Thomas. Elliot reminds me of Thomas as a baby in the chair picture. Thomas sure is big comparatively. Love Papa Boden
