Let's Leave Hiking Back in 2008

Anyone who previously thought that I have loving, thoughtful, reasonable parents is mistaken. What type of parents would take their little guy out into the woods for a 3 1/2 mile long hike on a freezing cold December day? The answer? Mine. That's right, although I was fairly well bundled it was pretty darn cold.

Here I am before I knew what I was in for, thinking - wow, I am pretty bundled up and warm.

Getting to ride on Daddy's back:

This is our first stop for a snack. I took my gloves off to enjoy some Cheetos. Bad move.

Nate, dressed like a little eskimo, didn't seem to mind the cold:

Before long, my fingers began to get numb and tingly. My cheeks were red and freezing. It was too cold without my gloves on and I couldn't even manage to eat a cookie with my gloves on. If you look closely you may see tears on my cheeks - surprisingly they weren't frozen.

I was pretty peeved by this point and made sure everyone knew it. I cried a good half of the way. I wanted to make sure that my parents never again got the bright idea to go on a hike with me in the cold. They deserve a time out.

  2. Thomas your mom didn't like that hike either......one time we took a wrong turn and grandpa had to carry your mom up and down the ravines.
Your mom kept asking "how much longer" and grandpa almost had a heart attack! Lets go on shorter walks...........love grandma L

  4. Dude I thought we went on a 10 mile hike. It sure felt like it was that long. My daddy deserves the time out b/c I'm pretty sure he's the one that convinced your mommy that it wasn't too cold outside. I remember him saying something about, "What did indian babies do during the winter..." Let's hide next time they want to go on a hike.
